2009 Art Hop Logos Final

It’s that time of year again!  Monument, CO 2013 Art Hop season begins this Thursday, May 16, 2013. The official time for Art Hop is 5 – 8:00 PM.  In Monument, Art Hop is on the third Thursday of the month, starting in May and running through September.

There are so many cool things about Art Hop. Visiting the local merchants, seeing what’s new, meeting with artists at different locations where their works are represented, food, drink, good conversations, running in to friends and catching up. It’s just a very nice community event to socialize and enjoy an evening out.

This year, I will be at Marylee Resig’s Santa Fe Trail Jewelry with my good friend and fellow artist Nancy Bonig. Marylee carries Nancy’s work and mine. Not only will Nancy & I discuss our respective work, but we look forward to talking about this year’s Front Range Open Studio Tours. There will be new artists joining us this year, like my friends Ginny & Frank Mailo of Monument Moon Studios.  I’m excited about the prospects of expanding our network of friends on the tour, along with demonstrating some of the techniques we use in creating our artwork.

I will have some of my new works, such as Express Yourself (with a little touch of Colorado), in addition to some of my latest Treescapes and Ginkgo leaf works.

Nancy always has the most beautiful glass works, so I can’t wait to see what she may bring!

Right now the weather forecast is GREAT for this Thursday evening, so why not make plans to have a wonderful evening out and just enjoy the atmosphere in Monument?

Hope to see you there.

Until next time, aspire to be more as an artist and a person.

Another pair of earrings from my new Express Yourself series.  These are available at Santa Fe Trail Jewelry in Monument, CO.  Sterling silver, a variety of pearls, Mokume-Gane, 14Kt Gold filled wire, brass and of course, the signature Aspen leaves.

From my perspective, working on these earrings gives me the joy of creativity.  I find it to be completely freeing; allowing me to be very artistic.  From that comes such uniqueness for the person who wears them, allowing for a true sense of expressing who they are as an individual.  I’ve always been one to shy from following the crowd, looking for ways to be me.  Now I think these earrings can help others make statements about their self-worth and individuality.

With the current forecast of snow and colder temperatures, fitting for those of us who enjoy the beauty of living in Colorado, I know I will be spending some quality time at my bench this weekend, working on more Express Yourself items.

Until next time, aspire to be more as an artist and a person.

I am happy to introduce my Treescape Earring Collection.  This is just a small sampling of the assortment I have available.  They debuted in my studio during the Front Range Open Studio Tour.  Since then, I have expanded on the styles, adding pearls, jaspers, and faceted stones such as amethyst, citrine and sapphires.

This coming Saturday, Novermber 24th, is Small Business Saturday.  I will be doing a Trunk Show at Santa Fe Trail Jewelry in Monument CO from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.  If you live in the area, I invite you to come to Santa Fe Trail Jewelry, visit with me, see my new Treescape Earring Collection along with some of the other wonderful items Marylee Reisig has at her gallery.  It’s a quaint and warm setting nestled in downtown Monument (see map below) located at 215 Chapala Plaza.  As an added bonus you can enjoy Monument’s small town Christmas event with other merchants in the town.  In addition to my new Treescape earrings, I will have more new works and hopefully you will find the perfect handcrafted gift for a loved one or friend.  Enjoy the start of the Holiday festivities in the Art District of Monument, CO.

My heartfelt gratitude to Marylee for giving me the opportunity to present my  new works at this Trunk Show.  I look forward to seeing you.

Until next time, aspire to be more as an artist and a person.

Stillness At Dusk
Treescapes

I’m always seeing things in the stones I work with. This lovely heart is Morrisonite, cut by Gary B Wilson.  In this particular stone, I see mountain silhouettes that provide a backdrop for a pond in the foreground.  The time of day is dusk.  Everything is quiet and still.  Tranquility exists at the end of the day.  Calm and serene.  I can smell the fresh scent of the surrounding pines.  The perfect time to reflect on the accomplishments of the day and anticipate what wonders the next day holds.

It’s one of my latest Treescapes that you can see at Santa Fe Trail Jewelry in Monument CO this Thursday, August 16 during Art Hop. I will be at Marylee’s delightful gallery, along with some of my new Treescapes, between 5PM and 8PM.  If you live close to Monument, please stop by and say hi.

Until next time, aspire to be more as an artist and a person.

It’s time for Art Hop!  Thursday evening, June 16, 2011 from 5 PM to 8 PM.  Lots to do.  Plenty to see.  And this time, I think the weather is going to cooperate too.

I will be one of the artists representing the Front Range Open Studios Tours, along with Nancy Bonig at the Gallery Center located at 366 Second Street #C in Monument, CO.  I think there may be some other open studio tour artists, but I haven’t heard the final word.

Just wanted to send out a shout and if you live in the Monument, CO area, come visit downtown Monument.  There’s lots to see and I think you will be glad you did.  Hope to see you there.

Until next time, aspire to be more as an artist and a person.

I am delighted to announce that I have been accepted as one of the artists for the Front Range Open Studios Tour this fall.  The event will take place on the weekend of September 17th & 18th from 10 AM – 6 PM on Saturday and from 10 AM – 5 PM on Sunday. Rest assured I will post reminders and more details as we get closer to the dates.  In the interim, if you ‘Like’ Front Range Open Studios Facebook page, you’ll receive updates on what our plans are.

To my surprise, one of my Mountainesque pieces, Uncharted Territory,  is featured as the artwork for the poster too!  Whoot!  I am truly honored and humbled to have been selected as part of this group of artists whom I consider to be very talented and gifted.

The first Art Hop of the season will take place tomorrow night, Thursday, May 19th from 5 PM to 8PM at The Gallery Center, 366 Second Street, Suite C, Monument CO.  I will be there with several of my fellow participating artists to discuss the upcoming open studios tour and provide a preview of some of our work.

One of the goals of the open studio tour is to show the public the working artist studios located in the Tri-Lakes Area which includes Larkspur, Palmer Lake, Monument, Gleneagle and Black Forest.  During the open studio tour, each artist will demonstrate the process of creating their art, including materials, tools, special procedures.  It should prove to be very informative.

Initially, I was approached by Nancy Bonig, who is a glass artist that I greatly admire, to apply for this event.  I am touched and thankful that Nancy liked my work so much that she thought of me and asked me to apply.  The rest is history now and I’m so excited that my work was juried into this tour.  I believe this is a great opportunity.

I am looking forward to demonstrating my process as I create my art jewelry.  Over the past year, Lexi & I have discussed the importance of educating people about how we create our work.  This tour will provide a wonderful way to see where we work & create, the tools used in our craft, what inspires us, and more.  We recognize why there is “sticker shock” at times for a certain piece of our work.  We feel it’s incumbent upon us as artists to help educate the public about why a piece of our work costs more than the trinkets you can purchase at the large box stores.  I’m just saying!  Do you want to buy something of quality and craftsmanship, with a bit of the artist’s soul in it, or something that’s just crunched out by machines?  Big difference, Huge, ok, CAVERNOUS!  🙂  I’m more than a little passionate about this topic, can you tell?

There may be some challenges to get to my studio, as there are detours and road construction out where I live and that may deter some, but I hope it won’t.  I can promise those who venture to my studio, they will not be disappointed and I will be very happy to discuss what I do and show a variety of aspects that go into creating my art jewelry.  Plus you will get to see some of my finished work, maybe even a new series!  Well worth the price of admission, which is FREE by the way.

For now, I hope those of you who live in the area, maybe you can find some time to check out the first Art Hop of the 2011 season, stop by The Gallery Center and say Hi!  I’m certain there will be lots of beautiful work to admire.

Until next time, aspire to be more as an artist and a person.
